Forty-three percent of HR professionals who attended HR Tech 2026 plan to purchase HR technology within the next year, according to figures released by event organizers on November 3, 2026. The conference, held October 20–22 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, drew a community of more than 7,000 people spanning the full HR technology ecosystem.
HR professional attendance grew by more than 11% year over year, and the audience carried substantial buying influence: 91% of attending HR professionals shape HR technology purchases at their organizations, and 62% hold Director-level roles or above. For vendors, that concentration means the event functioned less as a trade show and more as a procurement audience already primed to act.
For HR leaders who did not attend, the numbers signal where the market is heading: budget holders are moving from AI experimentation toward deployment decisions, and regulatory questions are now part of the purchase conversation.
What did the program cover?
Under this year's theme, "From Change to Transformation," more than 235 speakers led over 150 sessions. Topics included:
- AI adoption and governance
- Candidate fraud
- The impact of emerging regulations
Event Director Kerry Tyler said the AI sessions drew the largest crowds. "Many of our most-attended sessions this year addressed AI, and HR leaders wanted the full picture: where it's delivering results, where it's falling short, and what it takes to move beyond pilots to real-world impact," Tyler said.
"HR Tech brought these conversations to the forefront, drawing on real-world experiences to help organizations move from experimentation to results," Tyler added.
All four keynote presentations will be available online for those who missed the live event, along with new sessions debuting exclusively during HR Tech Remix on Thursday, November 19. The Remix program is complimentary.
Which startups won Pitchfest?
Thirty-three emerging companies competed across three categories on the Pitchfest stage for cash prizes and booth space at HR Tech 2027. The results:
- First place: Hammock, an AI-powered HSA/FSA administration solution for wellness expenses
- Second place: Orbio AI, an AI-native HR platform for the frontline workforce
- Third place: DigaVouch, a trust-and-verification platform for hiring
The winners point to two pressure points for people teams: benefits administration friction and trust in hiring pipelines. DigaVouch's placement, coming amid conference sessions on candidate fraud, suggests verification tooling is moving from a compliance afterthought to a procurement category.
Who won the HR Icons Awards?
On Monday, October 19, HR Executive and HR Tech held the second annual HR Icons Awards Evening to recognize the HR profession. Winners across four categories:
Excellence in Employee Engagement
- Human Interest
- Pride Industries
Excellence in HR Tech Innovation and AI
- CLA
- ECU Health
Excellence in Talent Strategy
- Children's Minnesota
- LHH
Best Workplace Culture
- American Express
- Springline Advisory
What comes next?
The 43% purchase-intent figure gives HR teams a benchmark for their own technology roadmaps: roughly two in five peers at the largest industry gathering expect to sign contracts within 12 months. With AI governance and emerging regulation headlining the agenda, the 2027 cycle will likely test whether those planned purchases translate into deployments that clear legal and operational review.
